When it all began
Our technology was initially developed within the VTT research center in Otaniemi, Finland, in close co-operation with the Helsinki University of Technology. Our company’s founder began working on a viable solution for real-time industrial measurement in 1977, when he conducted trials with purely analogue film cameras.
As the technology continued to develop, the Mapvision trademark was registered by VTT in 1986, and the company was founded in 1987 to commercially utilise the technology. Our first customers applied our technology in a range of special applications, from shipbuilding and mobile phone covers to jet fighter wings.
The development of the fully-digital 100% in-line inspection system started in the mid 2000s, and our first solution for the automotive industry was introduced in 2008.
Mapvision is committed to acting as a responsible supplier, employer, and member of the Global community.
